An Open Letter to Friends, Family, and Whoever the Hell looks at this Blog.
Dear Friends,
Warmest holiday greetings.
As you may well know, I have been unemployed now for o’er fourscore by two days and nigh on two fortnights. I hope you are all doing well.
As you sit before your lavish feasts this holiday season, I was hoping that you might find some small way to remember those of us who are less fortunate. I myself have been trying to supplement my meager stipend from my government unemployment insurance, by laboriously slaving away at this electronic blog. As you may remember from the past, I have occasionally, humbly, and with no small amount of embarrassment and shame, entreated you all in the mildest manner I am capable of, to possibly “click” one of the advertisements that are displayed on said blog. I know this will require a mighty collective effort from you, my friends. You will be forced to exert great effort and moral fortitude to move your mouse pointer approximately three inches to the left margin. There you will heroically have to summon a herculean effort to press the left mouse button – neigh, not the right, but the notorious (and sinister) left button, upon one of said advertisements displayed thereon. Then following a brief, but poignant pause, you shall dutifully, but courageously and swiftly, bring the aforementioned mouse pointer to the “x” in the upper right corner of the advertisement window, and thusly dispatch the evil thing with a slight contraction of the muscles of your collective index fingers.
Now I know this is asking a lot – and I wouldn’t blame you, if you honorably declined said action, since I’m sure you have many, many more important things to do, and I am almost ashamed to ask you to perform such a risky and trying action – an action that will only allow me to buy a few useless Christmas trinkets for the needy children in my neighborhood anyway (and possibly with enough left over to buy a few scraps of bread for my own sustenance) – hardly worth such a noble effort on your part. But if you decide to make this great sacrifice on my behalf, I shall be eternally grateful, and will remember you in all my prayers for all the remaining miserable days of my short life.

My two cents on Climategate
As a Libertarian, my problem with Global Warming is not that it is false, but that it’s being politicized. It’s obvious that it’s being used to promote governmental intervention and the suppression of individual rights. Is the science really good enough to require draconian governmental intervention? Is the evidence really good enough that it predicts the end of the world in the near future? It kind of reminds me of preachers giving Hellfire and Brimstone sermons – scare the Hell out of the congregation and then pass the collection plate – good way to accumulate power.

This fairy tale quote by John Kerry (Newsweek 11/16/09) made me laugh out loud:

Johnson, who the Progressives despised during his presidency, can be disparaged as a weakling who knuckled under to the evil military. But you see – it wasn’t his fault! He was still a good Progressive Democrat; the evil right-wing military FORCED him into escalating the Vietnam War!
On the other hand, Kennedy, a minor president (whose only claims to fame were avoiding a nuclear war that he had, himself, almost foolishly caused, and making a supply-side tax cut), but a Democrat patron saint, is shown as a strong man willing to stand up to the same dastardly evil military war-mongers.
The Progressives are master history revisionists: America was a colonialist empire, Nixon was responsible for Vietnam, Kennedy was assassinated by right-wingers, even the word “Liberal” was stolen by Progressives in the early 20th century (as outlined in “The Commanding Heights”, by Yergin & Stanislaw) – it actually meant what is known today as “Classical Liberalism”, essentially modern Libertarianism.

Why I oppose heterosexual marriage (licensing):
The state shouldn’t be licensing marriage in the first place - hetero, homo, or otherwise, IMHO. The less licensing of EVERYTHING the better. Gay marriage legislation is an attempt to get the same special favors from the government as hetero marriage. Gay marriage IS legal - as is Tree marriage, Car marriage, Football marriage, etc., it’s just not state licensed! I’d like to purpose banning state licensing of ALL marriage, thank you. Besides, I’m single, if Gays and Straights have a license, why can’t I?

The Intrade Prediction Market is showing a VERY slight edge for Corzine recently. This is NOT the poll to bet against. I suspect that traders are hedging for the possible “recount” that will more than likely go in Corzine’s favor.
